Confession: In the ten years Chris and I have lived together I have never loved our bedroom. (If i’m being extra extra honest I would say I’ve never had an “adult” bedroom before either.)
Our bedrooms have usually had at least dual roles, such as our office/bedroom combo. Or in our last apartment before we moved into our current home, the space was always a temporary space. We got that apartment when we first moved to Missoula, before even seeing the town, so we just knew we needed a place to stay. We were only there for about a year and nine months before finding our current house. Long and short we never “invested” in that space.
When we first moved here our bedroom was where our current home office is now. That’s how the previous owners had it so we just figured why not? It is the larger of the two rooms and it took about 6ish months for us to make the switch to make our smaller room our primary bedroom. Never looked back!
If you’ve read our house door saga you’ll see we already freshened up the space by painting over the child room yellow and continued our SW Simply White color into this room. (Our last room to get a new fresh coat of paint is the living room. Fingers crossed once the weather warms up that will be high on the to-do list.)
Now for the fun part! Who would have known that grabbing some simple “decorative” pillows, and taking down our curtains would have led to more small changes that will lead to a big and cohesive space. I can’t wait! *Looking at you mix-match/hand me down lamps, “stool” side tables, no real bed frame…*
Dare I say, that our bedroom will finally feel like a grown-up room? Watch it, Bridget, don’t jinx it!
